Miniature brushless motors are shifting from traditional slotted stator layouts to advanced slotless topologies. Slotted designs use stator laminations with teeth to wrap copper wire coils, which can result in cogging torque due to the magnetic attraction between the teeth and the rotor magnets. In contrast, slotless designs place self-supporting coils directly within the stator bore, eliminating cogging torque entirely.
